CNS: Washington, DC Medical Director |
DR. ADAM LOWY, Medical Director of CNS’ Washington, DC site (Psychiatric Institute of Washington, DC), reflects the academic excellence and commitment shared by CNS as an organization. Having conducted over 50 clinical trials across multiple psychiatric diseases, including mood (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder), anxiety (Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder), and psychotic (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder) illnesses, Dr. Lowy has gained expertise in clinical trial management with a variety of age groups (child/adolescent and adult), trial designs (open, blinded, acute therapy [including placebo control], relapse prevention, dose finding, and efficacy augmentation), and special psychiatric populations (treatment resistant, negative symptoms). Dr. Lowy also maintains notable Phase 1 experience in psychiatric populations, an important advantage considering the evolving regulatory and clinical requisites of early CNS development.
Following his studies at Harvard for both undergraduate (magna cum laude) and medical degrees, Dr. Lowy trained at Cambridge and Sheppard-Enoch Pratt Hospitals. In building a
strong specialization in clinical research for nearly a decade, Dr. Lowy serves as Medical Director for Adult Psychiatric Services at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, DC, and is Associate Professor at George Washington University. As the Medical Director of the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, Dr. Lowy oversees significant clinical acti-vity (70-adult bed facility; 30-child/adolescent bed facility), with the complementary efforts of a full-time outreach liaison, as well as a case manager-social worker shelter network to support trial execution and follow-up.
